SPOKANE, Wash. - The Spokane County Medical Medical Examiner has identified the man shot and killed by Spokane Police following a standoff on Wednesday evening as 30-year-old Steven Charles Corkery. The cause of death was listed as "gunshot wounds" and the manner of death was listed as "homicide."

The Medical Examiner spelled Corkery's name "Steven," and court documents obtained by KHQ spell his name "Stephen."

Corkery was the suspect in multiple recent robberies and was shot by Spokane Police Officers Wednesday night when he came out of a home near Maple and Grace. Officers had been communicating with Corkery through a PA system, and eventually through the front door of the home before Corkery walked out of the front door and was shot. Witnesses say Corkery had a gun in his hand when he was shot, and Spokane Police say a gun was recovered from the porch of the home close to where Corkery fell.
