PASCO, WA - The story of a dog found in a dumpster in Pasco earlier this week, has a happy ending after all.

Tracie Welliver found Legend outside the American Legion where she works on Monday. She took him in for the night, and right away saw how sweet he was.

She says when her friend Doug Keffler met the little dog, the two were a perfect fit.

She brought Legend to Tri-City Animal Control on Tuesday to see if anyone claimed him, where Keffler Visited him for the next two days.

Friday morning at 11:08, Legend went up for adoption. Keffler couldn't get there on time, but Welliver showed up early to make sure it all worked out.

Keffler says he's glad to be making a difference for a dog that needed some help.

"Well, from where he came from, the dumpster, I think he's going to be happy. Probably needs a lot of love. He'll get that no problem," he said.

Keffler says his 16-year-old Schnauzer died a few months ago, and he has been looking for a new pet ever since. Welliver says she's just happy Legend ended up in good hands.
