SPOKANE, Wash. -

Any other time of the year, having your house egged is a pretty terrible thing; but not this weekend in the Spokane area. “You’ve Been Egged” is a local effort to give the Easter Bunny a little help – and it’s all for a good cause.

People can make a small donation of just $5 per dozen eggs to order a so-called “hit” on the house of a friend of family member and a team of volunteers will hide eggs fill with candy in the yard of the home that’s been targeted at dusk this Saturday. They will leave a note on the door explaining what happened and how many eggs to hunt for, making the holiday a little brighter for kids – and adults – throughout our community.

It’s an event that’s been gaining popularity in the last year or two – and already this year 150 dozen eggs have been ordered for 60 houses.

“This year we had one lady who ordered again [this year], who was telling us her kids were asking if they were going to get egged again because they love it so much,” organizer Andrea Clift told KHQ’s Kelsey Watts.

What makes the project even better? All the money raised will support a local couple who are moving from Spokane to Haiti full-time to establish a clean water and feeding program.

To learn more or sign up for a “hit” for your unsuspecting neighbors, visit the event page on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/1403453219926040/?ref=br_tf

SPOKANE, Wash. - Feel like you have to keep swatting bugs away when you've been walking outside this week? What you might be calling gnats, are really blue ash aphids. And right now they are more active than ever, because it's mating season. KHQ met a couple who noticed the blue ash aphids right when they started their walk in the park.
