Beavan Recalled From Tacoma, Will Start Tonight

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jack Zduriencik announced today that right-handed pitcher Blake Beavan has been recalled from AAA Tacoma and will be the starting pitcher in tonight’s game vs. the Rangers (5:05 pm PT/7:05 pm CT).

To make room on the active 25-man roster, LHP Lucas Luetge was optioned to AAA Tacoma post-game last night.

Beavan, 25, will wear #49 when he takes the mound tonight for his 2014 debut.

In two starts with the Rainiers, Beavan went 1-0 with a 2.08 ERA (3 ER, 13.0 IP). He recorded a 7-inning complete game in the Rainiers season opener April 4 vs. Albuquerque (7.0,4,1,1,2,6,HR). He recorded a no-decision in his last start April 9 vs. El Paso, allowing 5 hits and 2 runs in 6.0 innings.

The native of Irving, Texas is 16-19 with a 4.61 ERA in 53 appearances with the Mariners (43 starts) from 2011-2013. In 3 career starts at Globe Life Park in Arlington he is 1-2 with a 3.72 ERA (1-2, 4.37 overall in 4 appearances).

Luetge, 27, made two appearances for the Mariners (18.00 ERA) after being recalled from AAA Tacoma on April 9.
