KENNEWICK, WA - There's a new police officer in town. Kennewick police swore in their newest officer Wednesday.

Officer Mikael Brakebill is a Washington native and recently served as a deputy for the King County Sheriff's Office.

Brakebill says since he was a young boy he knew he wanted to be a police officer.

"Grew up with my dad being a Seattle police officer and he instilled it in me. I loved watching him and coming home in the uniform. I wanted to do it growing up. This is what I want to do," said Brakebill.

Brakebill already has several certifications in Washington from his prior law enforcement service. He'll complete three months of local training before he hits the streets patrolling.
