Car Hits Kennewick Church Driving Completely Through Building

Posted: Updated:
KENNEWICK, WA - A car hit a Kennewick church just after 1:00 Thursday afternoon, driving completely through part of the building.

Police say the convertible Mitsubishi Eclipse was headed north on US 395 approaching a red light at 7th Avenue. The male driver suffered a medical problem. A female passenger chose to grab the wheel and steer the car into the Highway Tabernacle Church of God instead of slamming into a line of cars at the stop light.

The driver was the only one hurt in the accident, he was talking to paramedics before being taken to Trios health. They say his injuries appeared non life threatening.  No one was in the church at the time of the incident.

SPOKANE, Wash. - One of the great parts about living in Spokane, is if you head out of town in any direction, you're going to run into some beautiful farm land. I grew up south of Spokane, near Plaza, and one of my favorite things to do was to sit on the porch at night and stare south towards Rosalia at all of the rolling hills of wheat, lentils, barley and peas. >>
