SAN BRUNO, Calif.
 – Gonzaga University freshman Brandon Bailey has been named West Coast Conference Rawlings Pitcher of the Week, announced the league office Monday.

The Broomfield, Colo., native picked up his fourth win of the year 4-1 over the weekend in a complete-game effort at Saint Mary’s College. The right-handed pitcher struck out a career-high seven batters while only walking one Gael. Bailey scattered eight hits in the game and held Saint Mary’s scoreless until the ninth inning.

Bailey’s win clinched a doubleheader sweep for the Zags and gave GU its fifth WCC series victory. The complete-game was the third for Bailey this year. He is 4-5 overall with a 3.24 ERA. In his WCC starts the freshman is 4-2 with a 2.52 ERA.

This is the third WCC weekly honor for a Bulldog this year. Last week Payden Cawley Lamb was honored as player of the week and Andrew Sopko took home pitcher of the week honors the opening weekend of the year.

Gonzaga continues WCC play Thursday with its final road series of the season in Provo against BYU.
