Another Young Student Claims Yakima Martial Arts Instructor Behaved Inappropriately

YAKIMA, WA - NBC Right Now is digging deeper into the allegations against a martial arts instructor in Yakima for child rape.

Shocking accusations came out last week against the owner and head instructor of Gracie Barra Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Yakima. A 20-year-old girl told Yakima Police she was made to have sex with her 35-year-old instructor, Cristiano Oliveira, at least a hundred times when she was only a minor.

Sadly, we're learning she may not be the only victim. Trial Lawyer J.J. Sandlin, said he's representing another young girl who claims she was treated inappropriately by Oliveira over a year ago.

"This martial arts company promised them that they would provide a mentor who could be trusted, who would teach ethics and would teach responsibility to this child, and instead he 'groomed' her," said Sandlin.

The lawsuit papers against Cristiano Oliveira and the Gracie Barra Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu company said Oliveira began grooming this young girl for his sexual pleasure. He also made unwanted advances toward the minor through facebook. Sandlin said the young girl had to receive mental health counseling for his inappropriate conduct.

The lawyer said he's given the company plenty of notice about Oliveira's behaviors.

We called the executive director of the Gracie Barra company to get their comment. They said they weren't aware of Oliveira's conduct until last week's allegations and had no knowledge of the current lawsuit.

"We never were served any papers," said Flavio Almeida, the Executive Director of the Gracie Barra Association. "We never received any emails, never received any communication, no verbal about this specific lawsuit, and if we had we would have taken action immediately."

Almeida said Oliveira's suspended from Gracie Barra, and they are working to end his affiliation with the company.

Oliveira sits in Yakima County Jail with a $1 million bail.
