YAKIMA, WA - One by one, Yakima school teachers trickled into a conference room Tuesday to find out out they're recipients of a 2014 Crystal Apple Award.

18 Yakima Teachers were nominated, and ultimately five were selected.

Elizabeth Baranowski, Linda Fjeld, Earl Henderson, Irene Smith, and Jude Tegen were all praised for their hard work and dedication to their students.

"Because often you don't hear the thank you's, and this is something that is my passion and that I'm dedicated too," said Jude Tegen, a Crystal Apple Recipient.

Each of the five recipients will be awarded $1,000, and a Crystal Apple at a public ceremony next Monday at the Yakima Convention Center.
