As the 38th running of Bloomsday draws nearer, it brought back some memories from my childhood. Growing up in Issaquah, Washington, I didn’t make it to Spokane very often for the event, but every time I did, it was a special experience to share with family.

Now that I live in Spokane, I’ve come to realize just how great the city is at putting on these mega-events. It’s one of the coolest things we have going for us in the Lilac City, and one people around the rest of the state and country don’t realize.

In the spirit of Throwback Thursday, here are a few of the pictures from my earliest Bloomsdays.
