KENNEWICK, WA - Summer is coming soon, and many of you are wondering about when you'll be able to cool off at our local spray parks.

Areti sent us a facebook message asking, "I was wondering if anyone knows when they'll turn the water on at the Playground of Dreams, or at any of the kiddie splash parks?

We talked with the Parks & Recreation departments of all the major cities in our region, and they told us their splash parks are typically open from the Memorial Day weekend through the Labor Day weekend every summer.

Kennewick's water parks will all open on Saturday, May 24th.  However, there's a chance the spray park at the Southridge Sports Complex will open a little later because of the construction for the new Carousel of Dreams.  The city says the spray parks are extremely popular in the summertime.

"They do get a lot of use, especially when the weather is warm.  The one down by the Playground of Dreams is extremely popular as well.  They get a lot of use, and they're all just a great family fun place to go and hang out," said Evelyn Lusignan, a spokesperson for the City of Kennewick.

Pasco's brand new spray park in Kurtzman Park is just about ready to go as well.  Crews laid down new sod around the spray park earlier this month, and the city is planning a grand opening celebration the week before Memorial Day.

Yakima's spray parks in Miller Park and MLK Park will also open over the Memorial Day weekend, along with Richland's water park at Badger Mountain Park.
