YAKIMA COUNTY, WA - It's now been more than a week since an 18-year-old boy disappeared near the Roza Canal in Terrace Heights, but the Yakima County Search and Rescue team is not giving up. Rescuers have now shifted their focus away from Zillah and back to the Terrace Heights area where the 18-year-old was last seen.

Over the past week, cadaver dogs have searched the area and the Yakima Flying Club volunteered a plane to look overhead for any signs of the young man but they still haven't found anything in the Roza Canal. Rescuers tell me they never give up on a search and rescue mission, no matter what.

"I don't ever call it quits," Sgt. George Town said. "I didn't lose a son but I've had to bring a number of them home. So I told (the family), we're there. And we plan to follow this through."

There are countless people who have been notified and are keeping their eyes open for any sign of the young man in the canal. It could be days or even weeks before rescuers find a body. They say until then they will be out there everyday.

Because they owe it to the family to find his body so they can lay him to rest.

SPOKANE, Wash. - One of the great parts about living in Spokane, is if you head out of town in any direction, you're going to run into some beautiful farm land. I grew up south of Spokane, near Plaza, and one of my favorite things to do was to sit on the porch at night and stare south towards Rosalia at all of the rolling hills of wheat, lentils, barley and peas. >>
