PASCO, WA - Pasco's City council is clearing the air and clearing up any confusion about e-cigarettes.

At their Monday meeting, the city council unanimously approved an ordinance banning smoking at or near outdoor public areas such as shelters, playgrounds or pools.

The ordinance also banned e-cigarettes wherever regular cigarettes are prohibited.

"Is an e-cigarette sufficiently similar to a cigarette that you would want to regulate it the same? That's essentially what is being proposed by the ordinance," Deputy City Manager Stan Strebel explained.

The ordinance bans smoking cigarettes within 25 feet of playgrounds, pools, shelters, and splash pods. That means e-cigs are also banned within 25 feet of those same areas.
