KENNEWICK, WA - Imagine if you got to help design your workplace. Well, that's exactly what is happening at Kadlec Regional Medical Center.

Nurses and doctors rubbed elbows with architects and contractors this week for some hands-on design. They're planning the top four floors of the River Pavilion at Kadlec. The team put up cardboard and brought in equipment so everyone can see what the plans for two ICU floors and two general acute care floors will really look like.

"Looking at the schematic designs, unless you have that elevation you really can't tell what it is you're looking at. So, with the cardboard you can walk into a room and think, oh this is really small or oh, there's way too much space here. That allows you to move things around so that each space is perfect," said ICU Manager, Nancy Dahlberg.

Engineers designed the six floor building that stands today to allow more floors to be added on. The actual building phase is expected to begin within a year.
