Escaped Inmate From Adams County Has Been Captured

LEWISTON, ID - A 47-year-old man who was wanted for escaping Idaho Department of Corrections custody from the Adams County Jail on May 24th was captured early Tuesday morning in Lewiston. According to a press release, Robert Williston was taken into custody after Nez Perce County Sheriff's deputies and officers from the Lewiston Police department made contact with two male subjects and a female in the parking lot of Liberty Mart North in the 200 block of West 22nd Street North at about 12:41 a.m.

"During this contact it was found that one of the male subjects, later identified as Robert Michael Williston, 47-year-old male, had a confirmed Escape Warrant out of the Idaho Department Of Corrections (IDOC). Williston was taken into custody without incident," Cpl. Sam AuGello says in the press release.

Williston was sentenced to IDOC custody on April 1st for attempted strangulation and burglary in Kootenai County. His criminal record also includes convictions for grand theft and 1st-degree burglary in Madison County, grand larceny and fraudulent use of a financial transaction card in Ada County. Williston is not eligible for parole until 2021.

Williston is being held in the Nez Perce County Adult Detention Center with no bond.

KHQ.COM - The Idaho Department of Correction is searching for an inmate who escaped from the Adams County Jail in Council, Idaho. According to the IDOC, Robert Michael Williston apparently scaled the jail’s fence Saturday night.

Officials said Williston is an Asian-American with black hair, brown eyes and an olive complexion. He is 47 years-old, six foot one, and he weighs 195 pounds.

Documents showed Williston’s criminal record includes convictions for grand theft and first-degree burglary in Madison County, grand larceny and fraudulent use of a financial transaction card in Adams County, and burglary and attempted strangulation in Kootenai County.

The IDOC said Williston was eligible to be considered for parole on Aug. 30, 2021. His term would have been completed on Aug. 28, 2025.
