KENNEWICK, WA - The Memorial Day weekend is three days to reflect, celebrate and honor those who died serving our country in the armed forces.

Locally, a boy scout honored our veterans by presenting his eagle scout project Monday in front of dozens at a Memorial Day ceremony in Kennewick.

Hunter Robbins and his troop unveiled the new veterans memorial at Riverview Heights Cemetery.

The memorial includes a flag that Hunter arranged to be flown over the Tomb of the Unknown Solider in Arlington.

He said he is proud to see the monument finally become a reality.

"Amazing, it was an awesome ceremony also and I'd like to thank the BFW for being the beneficiaries of the project<"  Hunter said.

Colonel Felix Vargas spoke at the ceremony and added, "I think it's wonderful for our younger people to early on develop a sense of pride in the memory of those who have served before them and those who have made tremendous sacrifices and their families," he said.

The ceremony included a salute to the fallen solider presentation and wreath placement around the new monument.
