    FAIRCHILD A.F.B. - This weekend  Fairchild Air Force Base is hosting one of the biggest and most talked about events in the Inland Northwest, SkyFest! In 2008 more than 220,000 people attended SkyFest! AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. - The first Skyfest since 2010 is happening this weekend at Fairchild Air Force Base in Airway Heights! The weekend will be jam packed with the finest of the United States Military on display, both on the ground and in the air. 

If you attend and share your photos on social media, hashtag them #KHQSkyfest! We'd love to see them!

Here are a few reminders of what you need to know if you go this weekend: 

How much does it cost?
-
Admission is FREE!

What time does it start and end?
-
The airfield opens at 9:00am, and the air show begins at 11:00am.
- The air show ends at 4:00pm
- The gates to the airfield close at 6:00pm

What can I bring?
- Visitors are limited to the following items, which will be subject to search by Security Forces:
-Strollers and wagons for toddlers
- Diaper bags for guests with small children 
- Small women's purses 
- Handicapped items such as wheel chairs
- Official service dogs
- Lawn chairs
- Bottled water. Two bottles per person. There are free water-refill stations will be available.
- Hydration packs (CamelBak - hydration only, no backpacks)
- Cameras, video recorders and binoculars. Visitors will be required to show the items work. Items must be small enough to carry by hand.

Permitted but use discretion:
- Inhalers
- Baby bottles
- Medications. Bring prescriptions with you and in marked medical containers. (Don't bring medicine in "Sunday through Saturday containers)

Recommended items include:
- Sunscreen
- Hearing protections

What items are prohibited?
-
All visitors are subject to search by Security Forces and will NOT be allowed to pass through security with any of the following items:
- Weapons of any kind including pocket knives, pocket tools, scissors, box cutters, billy clubs, large-heavy chain link jewelry or belts, mace and pepper spray.
- Firearms (any type)
- Toys resembling firearms
- Outside food
- Skateboards, heelies, roller skates or blades
- Spray paint or silly string
- Glass containers (any kind)
- Alcohol
- Illegal drugs
- Bicycles
- Fireworks
- Coolers
- Backpacks, ruck sacks
- Pets
- Medical marijuana

What performances will there be and what is the schedule?

Featured Performers:

Headlining Fairchild's Open House and Air Show are the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds who perform precision aerial maneuvers demonstrating the capabilities of Air Force high performance aircraft to people throughout the world.


The U.S. Army Parachute Team, nicknamed "The Golden Knights," is the U.S. Army's official aerial demonstration team. The Team travels around the United States, performing parachute demonstrations at air shows, major league football and baseball games, and special events, connecting the Army with the American people.

Vintage American war planes take to the skies showcasing air power heritage.

The Boeing Model 40 was a single-engined U.S. mail biplane in the 1920s.

Souvenirs include shirts and t-shirts, hats and patches, glasses and blankets, flags and collectible diecasts models, coloring books and other toys. All souvenirs range between $5-$160. 

What if I want to take the bus? Does STA offer service out there?
- Yes they do! 
- #61 Highway 2 Via Browne's Addition will not serve the Fairchild AFB Front Gate between 8 am and 6 pm both days because of SkyFest. Other than bypassing FAFB, it will maintain regular route and schedule. An Extra #61 Fairchild AFBbus will provide overload capacity service to SkyFest via Graham Gate. These trips will depart Plaza Zone 6 at the top of the hour from 9 am until 3 pm. See schedule below.

Regular service #61 riders can access FAFB by getting off the bus at the Yoke’s stop and boarding the Extra Service bus. The Extra Service #61 bus will service that stop at :20 after the hour from 9:20 am until 3:20 pm. Return service from FAFB to The Plaza will operate from noon until 6 pm. See schedule below.

Service from Medical Lake to FAFB will be suspended between 3 pm and 6 pm due to eastbound lane closures. Inbound #61 will travel from Medical Lake east on #902, north on Craig, east on McFarlane, north on Lawson to Highway 2 and resume route.

    DEER PARK, Wash. - Washington State Patrol is investigating a crash on Highway 395 near Deer Park. WSP officials said they were working to rescue two people who were trapped as a result of the crash Friday evening. Troopers said two cars were involved and there are serious injuries.  Highway 395 is blocked in both directions. Traffic is being divert southbound at Owens and northbound at Burrows.  Avoid the area if possible.

    TULSA, Okla. - The owner of an Oklahoma liquor store has released graphic surveillance video showing a violent run-in with an armed robber.  KTUL reports that police responded to Forest Acres Liquor Store in Tulsa Thursday evening after the clerk called 911, saying they shot the suspect several times. The suspect took off before officers arrived, but he later showed up at a nearby hospital.  Police identified the suspect as Tyrone Lee, and
