BREAKING: State Route 290 Blocked By Early Morning, Alcohol Involved Crash

Posted: Updated:
NEWMAN LAKE, Wash. - Right now State Route 290 is blocked after an early morning crash near Trent and N. Idaho Rd. The crash happened just before 3:30 am. Washington State Patrol says a passenger vehicle was traveling southbound on N. Idaho Road when it collided with a logging truck headed westbound on State Route 290. The passenger car spun off the road, the logging truck rolled and the driver was ejected.

The driver of the logging truck and the passenger vehicle were both transported to the hospital and were conscious and alert at the time. The driver of the truck was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the cab. He sustained serious injuries.

WSP is on the scene investigating. Investigators say they found alcohol in the passenger car and say it appears the driver may have been drinking. The driver of the passenger car's injuries are not considered to be serious.

State Route 290 is currently closed between Beck and Star Roads.
