ALERT! Two Inmates Escape North Idaho Correctional Institution

GRANGEVILLE, Idaho - Wednesday morning around 10:45 the Idaho County Sheriff’s Dispatch Center was notified of the escape of two inmates from the North Idaho Correctional Institution (NICI) in Cottonwood, Idaho. NICI said the subjects were last seen headed northbound on foot.

Personnel from the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office, NICI, Cottonwood City Police, Lewis County Sheriff's Office and Idaho Department of Fish and Game responded to the area and are currently conducting a search of Cottonwood and the surrounding areas.

Both subject are reported to be dressed in Green T-Shirts and Blue Jeans. The two suspects who escaped are 23-year-old Dylan James Ames and 23-year-old Tyler Dean Davis.

Ames is described as a white male, 6' tall, 175 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He has several tattoos which include an angel on his left ribs, "Ames" on his right ribs, an octopus on his left calf, a cross on his right arm and "Lucky 7" and feathers on his left arm. He also has a scar on his right hand. He has a history of obstructing officers and drug use.

Davis is described as a white male, 5'9" tall, 200 pounds with brown hair and green eyes. He does not have any tattoos or noticeable scars. He has a history of burglary, domestic battery, resisting officers and grand theft.

Everyone in the area is encouraged to be cautious, lock their doors, remove keys from vehicles and don’t pick up hitchhikers. Anyone witnessing any suspicious activity is advised to call 9-1-1 immediately.

Police say a blue SUV (not pictured) attempted to make a left hand turn where it's not permitted, and while crossing traffic, he t-boned the red SUV.
