SPOKANE, Wash. -- KHQ's Alex Rozier brings SWX the story of Rick Welliver's Spokane Boxing, a gym that offers not only a place to train but also a a road to recovery that helps his athletes retake control their lives.

Welliver is a former boxer who opened Spokane Boxing in 2001 hoping for a chance to train national champions, but as life tends to do, things didn't exactly go as planned. Now Welliver's gym serves as a beacon of inspiration and a pillar of hope for those who need it most. Many of his boxers have a less than savory past, but by working with Welliver, they are given a chance to to become upstanding members of the community.
