PHOTOS: Budweiser Clydesdales Visit Kids At Sacred Heart Hospital

Posted: Updated:

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Budweiser Clydesdales are making the rounds in Spokane this week, and because they're so big, they are pretty hard to miss.

"Our family knows a lot of people with horses," explained 8-year-old Beverly Granados. "But that's the biggest horse I've ever seen."

The Clydesdales, and their buddy the dalmatian, Chip, brought big smiles to a lot of kids at Sacred Heart Children's Hospital this week.

"It's pretty cool because staying inside in the hospital is kind of boring," said 12-year-old Jesus Granados.

Jesus, his younger sister Beverly, and their mom Veronica have been at Sacred Heart since March while he undergoes chemotherapy for his leukimia.

"I used to be near a lot of animals," said Jesus. "And now I'm here in the hospital, so I don't get to see a ton, but you come out here [to see the horse] to see the animals, it's a fun activity to do."

The horse that visited Sacred Heart was named Carter. He stands 6'4" and weighs a whopping 2,300 pounds. But his size didn't phase the young patients.

Rachel Naftzger and her 2-year-old son Edmond were among the first to get to pet Carter.

They are at Sacred Heart because Rachel's 5-month-old daughter, Elliott, just had heart surgery. Rachel said her daughter is now "on the mend."

"As great as this hospital is," said Rachel, "we get bored. We've been here 10 days, and will be here another 7 . We get bored but stuff like this means so much, it shows people care, it's not just us hanging out here, and it means a lot that people care ."

King Beverage said they bring these Clydesdales around because "it's amazing what one horse and one dog can do."

And at Sacred Heart, this one dog and one massive horse brought smiles just as big to these little kids.
