CHENEY, Wash. – Eastern Washington Women's Basketball redshirt sophomore Hayley Hodgins was honored with the prestigious Frances B. Huston Medallion Friday, June 13, at a special convocation ceremony at EWU's Showalter Auditorium.

The Frances B. Huston Medallion is given to 20 graduates who are nominated by their department and finalized by their college, based on academic excellence and community service.

Hodgins, who redshirted her first year with the Eagles in 2011-12, received her bachelor's degree in health services administration in just three years' time.

"The things our young ladies do in the classroom is astounding to me, and Hayley is a shining example of the best of the best that our university and athletics deparment has to offer," said head coach Wendy Schuller. "For her to graduate in three years considering the amount of time and energy that her major and also her sport demand is amazing, yet she still finds time to be a great teammate, to serve in our community and to be a great sister and daughter. I'm very proud of her accomplishments."

A two-time member of the Big Sky All-Academic Team, Hodgins became the first Eagle to receive the Big Sky Outstanding Freshman Award after a standout season in 2012-13 before earning All-Big Sky Honorable Mention this past season.

A Pasco native, Hodgins will begin the pursuit of a master's degree in public health next Fall.
