SPOKANE, Wash. -

UPDATE:

KHQ has learned the inmate connected to the investigation of Marriya Wright is 31-year old Matthew Baumrucker. Baumrucker is a repeat offender and a convicted felon. Baumrucker is currently housed in the Geiger correctional facility. His latest arrest in March of 2014 was for being felon in possession of a firearm. The FBI along with Spokane police are investigating this case. Due to a potential conflict of interest, Whitman County prosecutor Dennis Tracy will review the case and file charges if there is enough evidence found to charge Wright with a crime.

It's unclear what sparked this investigation and as of right now no charges have been filed.

KHQ put in a request to speak with Baumrucker at the Geiger correctional facility about the case. Baumrucker initially agreed to speak to KHQ but later denied the request after speaking to his attorney.

KHQ also called a listed phone number for Marriya Wright and went to a home with her listed address. No one answered the door and phone calls were not returned.

Late Wednesday afternoon KHQ's Dylan Wohlenhaus spoke with Chris Bugbee, Wright's attorney over the phone. Bugbee would not comment on the pending investigation but did say "I would hope the community would suspend judgment until all the facts come out."

PREVIOUS COVERAGE:

SPOKANE, Wash - KHQ has confirmed that Marriya Wright with the Spokane County Prosecutors Office Property Unit has been placed on paid administrative leave for more than a month. Sources confirm that the investigation involves "inappropriate" contact with a Spokane jail inmate.

The conduct of the alleged relationship between Wright and the inmate is not known. According to the Spokane County Prosecutors Office, the paid administrative leave is standard and in line with state law and union contracts pending the investigation.

The FBI is investigating the case while Wright is on administrative leave. According to the Prosecutors Office, there are 5 Deputy Prosecutors assigned to the Property Unit.
