UPDATE: COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - "There are hundreds up to a thousand pieces of evidence that need to be processed,"said Bonner County Sheriff Daryl Wheeler in a press conference today in Sandpoint on the June 22nd officer involved shooting in post falls on I-90.

The incident occurred around 2am when officers pulled over a suspected DUI driver in Couer d'Alene. The suspect, 24-year-old Marcus Rael fled from officers leading them on a chase that ended near mile marker 5 on I-90 in Post Falls. From there, Rael allegedly fired on officers. According to Sheriff Wheeler, Rael was wounded with life threatening injuries, but saved by the same officers he was trying to kill.

Wheeler revealed new information in the investigation, specifically, two weapons confiscated from Rael's vehicle, both of which officers say he used to fire on police. An AK-47 with a high capacity drum magazine, and an FN 5.7 carbine rifle with a 50 round magazine, a gun wheeler described as a "cop-killer".

The investigation is still ongoing, and wheeler says it could take weeks for the case to reach prosecutors.

PREVIOUS COVERAGE:
The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office announced Thursday that charges have been filed against a man involved in a shootout on I-90 early Sunday morning.

Marcus Rael was officially arrested on Wednesday for one county of Felony Eluding a Peace Officer. Police say Rael drove away from a traffic stop early Sunday morning and led police on a high speed chase, before suddenly stopping at the Spokane Street bridge in Post Falls and opening fire on pursuing officers. 12 officers from four different agencies returned fire, hitting Rael.

Rael was taken to the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery. However, he is still in the hospital, but will be taken to jail as soon as he is ready to be discharged. His bond is set at $1 million dollars.

KHQ.COM - Cards Against Humanity is known for unique stunts around this time of year. In years past, in an effort to combat Black Friday, they've had people send them $5 and literally sent nothing in return. Just like they said they would.  They've also mailed people poop in a box. 30,000 bought it.  They've even raised $100,000 to dig a giant hole in the ground.
