SEATTLE – University of Washington standout shooting guard C.J. Wilcox became the 11th player to be drafted by the NBA in the Lorenzo Romar era and the seventh to be selected in the first round as he was the 28th pick by the Los Angeles Clippers Thursday night. The Huskies have had at least one draft pick in eight of Romar’s 12 years at the helm.

Wilcox finished his illustrious career at UW as the second-leading scorer all-time with 1,880 points and as the Washington record holder for the most career 3-pointers made (301), which ranks sixth in Pac-12 history. He additionally is one of three players to ever record 1,700 career points, 275 career 3-pointers and 400 career rebounds in conference history joining Jason Kapono (UCLA) and Jason Gardner (Arizona).

The standout from Pleasant Grove, Utah was a two-time Second-Team All-Pac 12 selection while earning Honorable Mention honors in 2012 and was an All-Freshman team selection in 2011. He set the UW single-season 3-point FG made record with 90 in 2013-14 and finished second all-time at UW with 36 20+ scoring efforts.

Wilcox led the Huskies in scoring in both 2013 and 2014 while finishing with a career average of 14.4 points per game over 131 total games. He also helped the Dawgs reach the NIT semifinals in 2011-12 and averaged 16.0 points during that postseason run.

As a redshirt freshman in 2011, he was part of a Husky team that went 24-11, won the Pac-10 Tournament championship and advanced to the third round of the NCAA tournament.

In the last 10 drafts, at least one Husky has been selected in all but two years (2008, 2013). Additionally, the Dawgs have had 52 overall picks in the NBA Draft, including Romar’s selection in 1980.
LOS ANGELES (AP) - The Los Angeles Clippers selected Washington guard C.J. Wilcox with the 28th overall pick in the NBA draft on Thursday night.

Wilcox, 23, averaged 18.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.5 assists last season as a senior with the Huskies.

The 6-foot-5, 201-pound shooting guard was named Second-Team All-Pac-12 last season and is the school record-holder for most career 3-pointers. He is also second in scoring in school history with 1,880 points.

The Pleasant Grove, Utah, native shot 43.3 percent from the field and 84 percent from the free-throw line in his college career.

The Clippers also picked a shooting guard with their first round pick last year, taking North Carolina's Reggie Bullock 25th overall.
