SPOKANE, Wash. -- There is nothing more American than a baseball game on the fourth of July that ends with the home team winning and fireworks in front of a sell out crowd. That's exactly whathappenedd on Friday, July 4, at Avista Stadium in front of 7,064 fans as the Spokane Indians cruised to a 10-3 win over the Vancouver Canadians.

The Canadians (13-9) broke the seal first in the top of the third inning on a Roemon Fields RBI single to left field to score Alexis Maldonado.

That was all the motivation the Indians (16-6) needed to re-take the lead in the bottom of the frame. Saquan Johnson reached first after striking out but beating the throw to first on the past ball on strike three. Eduard Pinto walked and Seth Spivey lined out to center to set up Jose Trevino with men on first and second with one out. Spokane's leading home run hitter promptly blasted a three-run shot that flew under the Gus Johnson Ford sign in left field.

Luke Tendler was robbed of a home run when the umpire called his line-drive shot to right foul. But the Indians would still score later in the inning on a Isiah Kiner-Falefa triple to bring in Marcus Greene who singled after Tendler flew out, capping off a four-run third and a 4-1 lead.

Vancouver dug out a run in the fourth and fifth innings off of Spokane starter Richelson Pena to cut the lead to one, 4-3, but that was as close as they would get.

Greene hit a two-RBI double in the fifth to start a three-run inning and Trevino led off with his second homer of the game in the bottom of the sixth to start another three-run rally. Giving Spokane a 10-3 lead that would remain for the rest of the game.

Jason Hoppe came in to throw three innings of scoreless relief, striking out five Canadians in the process.

Trevino finished the night 3-5 with 3 runs, 2 HR and 4 RBI. Greene added three runs and three RBI on a 3-for-5 performance, as well.
