SPOKANE, Wash. - A 17-year-old Spokane boy is dead after drowning in the Spokane River Thursday night. The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office and  multiple agencies responded to a reported drowning in the Black Bay area of the Spokane River around 10:16 pm.

Witnesses said several teenagers were swimming in the river, and that the 17-year-old yelled that he could not swim any more. Witnesses told Kootenai County Sheriff's Deputies they saw the teenager go underwater and he did not come back up.

Deputies said they're still investigating the case.

His family has set up a memorial fund through Wells Fargo Bank. Donations can be made at any branch with Wells Fargo under Trey D. Daley Memorial Fund. Let friends and family know about this fund.
