SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. - The Washington State Department of Health believes some local water systems are at risk after severe storms moved through the area on Wednesday and they have issued some boil-water advisories.

In Spokane and Pend Oreille counties, several water systems are under boil-water advisories:· The Greenbluff Water Association, which serves 215 residents, is losing water pressure and is under a boil-water advisory.

· Riverside Village Mobile Home Park in Chattaroy sustained heavy wind damage and has no power or water. The park’s more than 700 residents should boil tap water or disinfect the water with bleach until further notice.

· Chattaroy Valley Mobile Estates in Chattaroy has no power or water. When service is restored, the park’s 333 residents should boil tap water or disinfect the water with bleach until further notice.

· Sandy Shore and Sandy Meadows water systems in Pend Oreille County lost power. When service is restored, the 60 residents should boil tap water or disinfect the water with bleach until further notice.

Whitworth Water District #2 in Spokane County is urging customers who live north of the Little Spokane River to conserve water. The district is struggling to maintain water pressure due to power outages.

The district serves 10,000 homes and businesses and is most concerned with the portion of the system north of the Little Spokane River. The district has brought in generators and is filling reservoirs. Customers who live north of the Little Spokane River are urged to use water sparingly and limit consumption to in-home use.

The Department of Health lists boil-water advisories on its Recent Alerts webpage; anyone who lost water pressure yet doesn’t see their water system listed should ask the system operator. Don’t assume the water is safe after losing water pressure. Private well users can contact their local health agency for information. For more information, CLICK HERE: www.doh.wa.gov
