Former EWU Eagle Greg Herd Signs With Chicago Bears

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO – Greg Herd will get another shot at the NFL as the former Eastern Washington University wide receiver joined the Chicago Bears on Tuesday.

Herd was added to the mix after former Washington State Cougar Marquess Wilson fractured his clavicle while at Bears practice on Monday. Wilson has already gone through surgery, but there is not a timetable for his return.

Herd first broke the news with picture of him signing his contract on instagram along with a post that read, “Just when you think all the doors have been shut, you go pry open a window. Beyond thankful for this opportunity.”

Herd was an undrafted free agent in 2013 and has yet to appear in an NFL game. The former EWU Eagle spent time with the Cowboys and Seahawks last year, and received an injury settlement from Seattle in late August.

During his last three years in Cheney, the wide receiver caught 165 passes for 2,348 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Chicago’s first preseason game is Friday, August 8th when the Bears host the Philadelphia Eagles.
