Pit bull euthanized after mauling 5-year-old boy

DESMET, Idaho (AP) - A pit bull was euthanized over the weekend after attacking a 5-year-old boy in northwestern Idaho.
    
The Spokesman-Review reports (http://bit.ly/1AuEQvh ) the boy was attacked by a neighbor's dog as he played in his aunt's yard on Friday evening in DeSmet on the Coeur d'Alene Indian Reservation. The boy suffered bites on his head and right ear and was treated at Kootenai Health in Coeur d'Alene.
    
Coeur d'Alene tribal police cited the dog's owner for keeping a vicious dog.

The United States Attorney's Office reported Tuesday that Aren Lee Perryman, aka Filthy, pleaded guilty to Trafficking in Methamphetamine and Heroin; Possessing and Using Firearms in Connection with Drug Trafficking; and Intimidating and Threatening witnesses.

    SEATTLE, Wash. - The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has authorized the use of federal funds to help with firefighting costs for the Spromberg Fire burning in Chelan County.  The authorization makes FEMA funding available to pay 75 percent of the state of Washington's eligible firefighting costs for managing, mitigating, and controlling designated fires. These grants provide reimbursement for firefighting and life-saving efforts.
