UPDATE: Fire at Silverwood caused by cigarette

Posted: Updated:
ATHOL, Idaho - After a thorough investigation into the fire that closed a portion of Silverwood Theme Park last weekend, investigators with the Timberlake Fire Protection District say it was most likely an improperly discarded cigarette that started the fire.

The fire happened on August 24th, around 2:00pm in a restroom at the Boulder Beach Water park. The water park was evacuated while crews worked to put the flames out.

The fire originated in an employee-only access area of the restroom.

No one was injured, but the building was destroyed.

Previous Coverage:

A spokesman says the Boulder Beach Water Park section of Silverwood Theme Park is back open after a fire forced staff to evacuate it Sunday afternoon.

The fire broke out at about 2 p.m. in the restroom building on the northeastern side of the park. Employees evacuated the water park, but the rest of Silverwood Theme Park remained open.

Fire crews extinguished the fire and deemed the area safe for re-opening. No one was hurt.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

SPOKANE, Wash. - From the outside, the Repeat Boutique looks like a lot of other thrift shops in Spokane.  Inside, some might describe the stuff for sale as old, used, discarded garbage -- but store manager CJ Curtis sees its potential. And just like the goods in her shop, CJ is on her way to a new life, one far from the one she once lived.

SPOKANE, Wash. - "He told me to pull over, and my jaw just dropped," a Spokane woman, who says a fake police officer tried to pull her over, doesn't want to be named. In fear, this could happen again. "It really scared me and kind of threw me off that night. I don't even want to drive by myself anymore," she said. She tells me that she was driving around North Spokane at night on her way home from work.
