SPOKANE, Wash. - Early Wednesday morning a fire broke out at A&M Auto Sales on the corner of Sprague and Smith in east Spokane.

A witness tells KHQ that around 3:00am she saw two men in the alley behind the business, then saw a bottle fly, then explode. The fire is being called suspicious by investigators but has not been ruled arson.

The witness, Pamela Pierce, tells KHQ "I looked through my window, then there was a beer bottle flying, then it exploded." Pamela called 911 to report the fire. Pamela and another woman who lives on the car lot both told KHQ they believe the fire stems from bad business dealings.

Just two days before the fire, police responded to a stabbing at the same location. The victim of that stabbing is still in the hospital. Two different neighbors who spoke with KHQ say the victim of the stabbing is the owner of A&M Auto Sales.

Police have not determined if the stabbing and the fire are connected. The neighbors who spoke with KHQ both say they have seen "molotov cocktails thrown" at the business the past couple of nights.

Spokane police tell KHQ they have responded to the business 7 times in August and 9 times during the month of July for various issues. Police have interviewed a person of interest in the stabbing but that person has not been named a suspect.

Fire investigators were on scene Wednesday trying to determine a cause of the fire.
