UPDATE: Spokane police announced via twitter that 2 of the 3 men detained as part of the coffee stand robbery investigation have been arrested on robbery charges. The 3rd suspect was also arrested, but on an unrelated charge. All 3 are expected to appear in court Wednesday.

PREVIOUS COVERAGE:
SPOKANE, Wash.- It was a busy Tuesday afternoon for Spokane Police as they responded to two robberies within an hour and a half of each other at two separate coffee stands, however they do have three suspects detained in connection to the robberies. The first robbery happened at the Hot Toddy's coffee stand near Division and Francis just after noon. In that robbery, the suspect displayed a gun, demanded money, and then ran off with cash. Officers responded to the scene and attempted a track, but were unsuccessful in finding the suspect. Through eyewitness accounts, detectives developed information that the suspect fled in an older model Subaru.

About an hour and a half later, police received another report of an armed robbery at a coffee stand, this time at Brews Bros. near Division and Sinto. The suspect description in the case was nearly identical to the robbery at Hot Toddy's, however this time the robber did not get away with any cash.

Shortly after the robbery at Brews Bros., Spokane Police Department Sgt. Huddle found an older model Subaru near Washington and Maxwell and stopped the car. The three men inside were detained, and the police department told KHQ officers were able to see evidence that matched descriptions witnesses had given at both scenes.

Spokane Police said as of 5:30pm on Tuesday, the three suspects are being detained, pending further investigation, however they did say there are no other outstanding suspects in connection to the two robberies. When they have completed their investigation, they will let us know if charges will be filed against any of the three men, and we will be sure to update you when we hear.

SPOKANE, Wash. - Initiative-1639 has been the root of controversy ever since supporters began asking for signatures. It became even more complicated when the Washington Supreme Court overturned a Thurston County judges decision after the judge initially threw out over 300,000 signatures saying the petition didn't follow election law claiming it was unreadable.
