Hot Clicks: Taking a sick day? Prove it with a #SickieSelfie

Posted: Updated:

KHQ.COM - Have you ever called in sick and worried that your boss would just think you're faking it? Well social media does many things for us and one of those things is that it allows us to prove that we're actually sick. The next time you're sick all you have to do, is post a "sickie seflie." Be sure to include the hashtag #SickieSelfie though, or it won't be an official "Sickie Selfie."

Before you take your #SickieSelfie, take note:

  • If you're actually in the hospital, you're golden. Snap a photo and no one will question you.
  • If a body part is wrapped in anything that looks like a big deal (a cast, big bandage, an IV) take a picture of that body part and you're done.
  • If you're sick at home, you're going to need a prop. If you don't have a prop, no one will believe you. Your prop can be tissues, medicine, a heat pack...just use something!
  • If you're a woman, don't wear makeup or try to look cute. Makeup does not say, "I feel awful today" and the worse you can make yourself look, the better.
  • If you like to write or are a blogger, writing up a quick blog that details exactly what you're going through is great. The more detail, the better.
  • Sometimes, a single detailed tweet is all you need. One woman tweeted, "My ears hurt, my voice is hoarse, my snot is greenish yellow." If that doesn't sound sick, I don't know what does.
  • Feel free to practice taking a #SickieSelfie so that you are a pro by the time you're actually sick. The Wake Up Show team did just that and for that, our managers will be pleased.
  • Notice how Sean makes it very clear that he's cold and hydrating.
  • Kalae included some EmergenC...love it.
  • Leslie is really good with the "sad face." Get good at that face...it's a must.
  • Ali included a box of tissues that also double as a pillow.
  • Our producer Sadie, included get well flowers.
  • Our producer Emily had on the perfect outfit...a hoodie.
  • Of everyone that practiced their #SickieSelfie though, Matt Rogers definitely stole the show and should get a round of applause. His selfie included a teddy bear, a blanket, everything he could find in the first aid kit and even his facial expression is perfect.
