Spokane County Wants You To Register For Alert Spokane

Posted: Updated:

SPOKANE, Wash. - Alert Spokane is a program that will alert you if there is an emergency near your address. Go to www.alertspokane.org and register your address. Then you add your phone number and email address. You can add multiple addresses, one for home, one for work, and one for your kids' school if you would like. Once you have registered, the county will have your phone number in its system.

If there is an emergency near your address, you will get a text or a phone message. For example, the county used this tool during the chemical spill on I-90 back in September of this year. The county sent a message to the homeowners within a half-mile radius of the spill. We talked to a man who lives right across the from the spill who said he didn't know anything about the program. "It seems like a good idea, we need to have information about emergencies and stuff, so yes I would be interested to know more about it," Kent Rinne said.

Law enforcement in Spokane say its really important to take the time to learn more about it and sign up. "We can't send you the message unless you have registered your personal phone, your cell phone, or your email address. Its really a simple process, said Frank Straub, the Police Chief of the Spokane Police Department.

STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. - It's been nearly two years since anyone has seen or heard from Paul Brazeau. He was last seen at his son's wedding. His brokenhearted family reached out to KHQ's Hayley Guenthner with a letter asking for his case to be featured in our Q6 Cold Case series. The day Paul vanished started out so wonderful. "It was a happy day," said Paul's aunt Georgine Glatt.
