HAYDEN, Idaho -
"One of the children in the pool screamed, 'Aribella', and so I looked over and I was right there, but I looked over and she appeared to be dead in the water," says Josephine Love, describing the events that led to her three-year-old daughter nearly drowning in a public pool in early September.

Love says Aribella had been wearing a life jacket, but took it off to use the restroom. And when Aribella returned to the pool, without her life jacket, no one knew.

"She didn't jump in, she didn't splash in," says Love.

After seeing her daughter's body lifeless, floating in the water, Love jumped into the pool and ripped her from the water.

"I just kind of threw her out, got her out of the pool," says Love.

But Love had jumped in in all of her clothes, and felt "waterlogged", struggling to get out. A pool full of teenagers and parents watched in shock, as Love's oldest daughter, Sequoia, sprang into action.

"I didn't really think, I was just...I just stopped thinking and just went into action mode," says Sequoia.

Sequoia, having learned it a year ago and never practicing on a dummy, began CPR on her little sister.

"I just started pressing on her stomach, and water came out, and my mom gout out of the pool...i just couldn't believe that this happened to our family," says Sequoia.

Now, a day previously thought of as scary, is now being remembered for the bravery that occurred. At Tuesday's city council meeting, the Coeur d'Alene fire department  awarded Sequoia with an award of exemplary action, an honor only given out once or twice a year.

"I'm very proud of Sequoia, and who knows, those seconds is what made all the difference in bringing Aribella back," says Love.
