SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -

Two people are dead after a shooting at the Broadway Square Apartments in Spokane Valley and the police are searching for a potential suspect. Officers received the call Saturday night around 9:30. When they arrived on scene they found one victim in an apartment and another victim outside the building.

Police say at this time they don't believe there is any threat to the community as they search for a suspect, but renters in the apartment complex are terrified.

"They're really scared, scared out of their minds," says Ryan Nairine, who lives right next door to the apartment where one of the victims was found dead. The other victim, Nairine says, was banging on his door just before he died.

"I opened the door and the dude was just laying on the floor," says Nairine. "I thought he was drunk but didn't see any bottles, and then I noticed the blood coming out of his skull."

Nairine says he and his family haven't had much sleep since this all happened. They never expected anything like this, especially right outside their front door.  Not many people knew the two victims but one woman did. She told KHQ the victims were brothers and she knew the oldest brother's children. She identified the two men but their identities have not been confirmed with police.

"They really never bothered anyone. They stayed to themselves and they were very peaceful. To see this happened to them is quite a shock," says Aofia Leota.

Calls to the Broadway Square Apartments management staff have not been returned.

Previous Story:

Deputies say the call came in for a fatal shooting on the 11900 block of E. Broadway in Spokane Valley around 9:30 p.m. They say two men are dead.

The two men were found at Broadway Square Apartments. Deputies say one of the men was found inside the apartment, the other was found outside of the apartment. The suspect is not yet identified. Air One, Major Crimes, County and Valley Deputies were all on scene.

The Spokane County Sheriff's Office says they have a suspect in the shooting, and are searching for who may be responsible.

Neighbors in the area said the two dead men are brothers and that they do not feel safe in the area.
