SEATTLE, Wash. - Democrat state Representative Roger Freeman is winning his race in in a district that covers parts of southern King County and northern Pierce County. The only problem is, Freeman died just days before Tuesday's election.

Freeman was diagnosed with colon cancer early last year but was optimistic he would be able to serve a second term, however he lost his battle last Wednesday.

At the time of this article being published, Freeman had 53 percent of voters.

So what if Freeman is elected posthumously?

If that happens then the King County and Pierce County councils would jointly choose a Democrat from nominees picked by Democratic Party activists to serve for a one year term. Voters would then elect someone next year to serve out the second half of the two-year term.
