PULLMAN, Wash. - KHQ received numerous calls and emails Wednesday afternoon regarding heavy police activity on the campus of Washington State University in Pullman.

WSU Police said they responded to a welfare check of an ex-student at around 10:00 AM. Police said there were concerns because the person posted a picture on social media of him holding a rifle.

Several fraternities and sororities told KHQ the ex-student was going from house to house acting "weird."

The man was located and police said they recovered an air soft weapon.WSU Police said at no time were the students, staff, or faculty members of WSU in danger.

The ex-student was identified as Jacob Merrick. WSU Police told KHQ Merrick was arrested, but not for what happened in Pullman, but for a warrant out of Moses Lake for Second Degree Theft.

Moses Lake Police told KHQ Merrick left Moses Lake early Wednesday morning from his grandparents house at around 3:00 AM. Police said Merrick left a note and stole his grandfather's credit card. At some point, police said Merrick contacted his old baseball coach at WSU and told him to "gather the team."

When Pullman police found Merrick, he was in possession of his grandpa's credit card and arrested on the Theft charge.
