COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho -

The suspect killed after an hours-long standoff in Coeur d'Alene over the weekend died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest, according to Idaho State Police.

John David Crispin was a fugitive from justice wanted for several violent crimes. He holed up in his ex-wife's house with a gun and refused to cooperate with police.

After a standoff that lasted through the Saturday night and into Sunday morning, Crispin was found dead in the house. Coeur d'Alene Police were initially investigating the incident as an officer involved shooting, but the autopsy results confirm the wound was self-inflicted.
