COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho -

H1 Unlimited has cut their ties with Coeur d'Alene's Diamond Cup Races.

"It's nothing against their president, but they need to settle their debts before we can consider working with them again," says Steve David, the H1 Chairman.

Doug Miller, the President of Diamond Cup Races, owes between $50,000 and $56,000. David said Miller has tried to pay back the debt in the past but some checks were not honored by the bank. To obtain the money owed, David said they are considering taking the case to court.

"Diamond Cup has made enough mistakes, we're just trying to make sure we don't make anymore," says Doug Miller, President of Diamond Cup Races.

Miller says he's not worried about the separation and still plans to bring races to the lake city by Labor Day weekend. He also plans to settle the rest of his debts, of which he says there are still a handful. He wouldn't clarify how much was owed to who, only that there were still some suppliers he needed to settle with.

Kootenai Fire and Rescue is one place Miller still owes money. After the 2013 races, they were owed more than $40,000, of which Miller has paid roughly $24,000. A spokesman with Kootenai Fire says they haven't seen a recent payment since April.

When asked if H1 would reconsider working with Miller if he paid back the debt, David told KHQ they too were looking at bringing races to Coeur d'Alene by Labor Day and have already begun discussing the plan with other interested parties in the area.
