LAPWAI, Idaho -

A 29-year-old Lapwai man who was being held in connection with a shooting early Saturday morning in Lapwai, escaped from police custody at around 4 o'clock Monday afternoon.

Nez Perce Tribal Police Chief Dave Rogers says Jamie Gallaher escaped from custody while appearing in Tribal Court.

Gallaher was charged with aggravated assault, committing an offense while armed, a weapons offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Rogers says Gallaher ran from officers while inmates were preparing for transport back to Nez Perce County Jail. He was last seen running through yards between Agency and Lolo Streets in Lapwai.

Gallaher is accused of having been involved in a shooting of 30-year-old Julian Isaac Bronson, who was shot in the thigh during a party Saturday morning.

Gallaher is described as a Native American man with short black hair and a clean shaven face. He weighs 180 pounds and is a member of the Colville tribe. He was last seen wearing a jail stripe uniform with a handcuff on one wrist. Gallaher is considered dangerous. If seen, the public should call 911 immediately.
