Over the last week, employees of Occupational Medicine Associate in Spokane have been hearing something strange outside their windows. They assumed it was a stray cat, but when they kept hearing it, they decided to investigate. What they found was a skinny, malnourished cat. Cassie Shneider says it was trapped at the bottom of a 15-foot window well. >>

SPOKANE, Wash. - The holidays are on full display at the Miller's home in North Spokane. The lights are up and the presents are under the tree, but this Christmas now feels even more special.

A couple of weeks before Thanksgiving, a member of the Miller family went missing. Their cat, Stormy, who never went far from home was gone.

Looking everywhere over the next few weeks, Audrey gave up hope they would ever see their cat again.

Then last Sunday morning, Audrey's husband was watching the KHQ morning show and saw a story about a cat named Jingles that was rescued from a window well near a downtown business. The fire department rescued the grey cat with orange eyes using a ladder and an empty paper box.

That cat was then taken to SCRAPS to be reunited with its family or to find a new one.

Hearing about the rescued cat, Audrey didn't think there was any chance it was Stormy, but went to check anyway.

"As soon as I walked in, she was in a cage, and I was like 'That's my cat,'" Audrey says.

Stormy had traveled over three miles from her home and survived at least a week at the bottom of that 15-foot window well without food or water.

Stormy is back home now with a family who's grateful to have her home in time for Christmas. The Millers still don't know how she made it downtown, but they've gotten Stormy a new collar that includes a license in case she decides to take another road trip.
