    COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - A 7-year-old boy is in critical condition at Sacred Heart Medical Center after he nearly drowned in a hotel pool in Coeur d'Alene. According to family members, the boy had been swimming in the deep end of the pool with his 12-year-old brother. The boys' father was also in the pool area, in the hot tub.>>

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho -

The 7-year-old child who nearly drowned at a hotel pool in Coeur d'Alene on Friday has died early Sunday. The boy was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center in critical condition after his father and a hotel guest performed CPR while waiting for help to arrive. When EMS arrived on the scene they continued life-saving measures.

Police received notification this morning that the boy had died after being removed from life support.

Coeur d'Alene Police Chief Lee White offered his condolences. "On behalf of the Coeur d'Alene Police Department I'd like to offer my deepest sympathy to the family after this tragic accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time," White said in a press release.

The family was visiting from Missoula, Montana when the accident occurred. The boy's name has not been released.

The Bristol Herald Courier reports that a warrant for 76-year-old Douglas Ferguson couldn’t be served until Tuesday because of the severity of his injuries.
