SPOKANE, Wash. -

January first is almost here, and according to usa.gov, the most common New Year's resolution in America is to lose weight, closely followed by volunteering more, quitting smoking, getting a better education, and saving money.

Blake Cooley said his resolution was to stop snacking at work. Getting in shape was also Denise Wollweber's goal for 2015, and her daughter Mariah said she wanted to read more because, "The more you read, the more you know."

For some families, just being together was enough for the New Year. Billy Smith is stationed overseas with the Navy, and he said all he wanted for 2015 was to be able to come home more.

Whatever your goal, psychologists say you're most likely to attain it if you set small, reasonable steps.

KHQ.COM - Most mothers can only hope by the time their children grow up and move out of the house, they've learned all the necessary things to be a successful adult, including the basic knowledge that a turkey must be cooked in an oven, or perhaps in a smoker... NOT in a microwave. For this reason a new prank-challenge going around on Facebook is resulting in some hilarious text conversations between mothers and their grown children.
