China -

2014 was a good year for the pandas. There was a total of 32 newborn panda cubs born in China.

According to the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda, there are now 394 captive pandas, including the newborns.

China has the largest captive population of pandas in the world. They have given some of their pandas to other countries to help develop their breeding and conservation programs of the pandas.

So far, China has given 24 pandas to nine countries; these include the United States, Britain, Australia and Japan.

In July, triplets were born at the Wildlife Park in Southern China. The siblings became the world's only surviving panda triplets.

With the growth of the panda population, they are not just being bred in captivity, but are also being reintroduced to the wild.

In October, China released a female panda names Xue Xue (Shuh-Shuh) into the wild. This was the fourth captive-bred panda released into the wild in China, and even more are expected to be released in 2015.
