Coeur d'Alene police are looking for a man they say tried to entice a child to come with him. It happened Thursday just before 8pm at the McDonald's at 208 W. Appleway Ave.

Police say a transient was inside the children's play area going through the trash. They say a 4-year-old girl walked up to the suspect and asked what he was doing. The suspect told her he was looking for his monkey and asked for her help.

The suspect and the child then left together, walking toward the front door. Fortunately the child's mother was nearby, saw what was happening, and grabbed her child before they got too far away. She also called police.

The suspect took off and police never did find him. They are looking for him, though. He's described as a man in his 50s or 60s. He was about 6-feet tall, 200 pounds, bald, blue eyes, had glasses, and was clean shaven. He was last seen wearing a gray vest, gray pants, and brownish/tan boots.

Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call the Coeur d'Alene Police Department at 208-769-2320.
