SPOKANE, Wash. -

Inside Jacque Hultquist's home, Elvis will never grow up.

“He'll always be that age in our eyes,” Hultquist said. “Oh my gosh, 80, I can't believe it.”

Elvis turned 80 Thursday, and Hultquist celebrated amongst her plethora of memorabilia.

“I've loved Elvis since I was like 4 years old,” Hultquist said. “My mother made me love him, and he's been the biggest thing in my life ever since.”

A lifetime of memories line her walls. Her basement is a shrine to the late King of Rock and Roll.

“I could tell you a story about every piece,” Hultquist said. “But you would be here for 24 hours.”

Her tokens come in all shapes and sizes. From singing stuffed animals, to the knife Presley's father used to cut lasagna during a 1971 dinner Hultquist watched from a nearby table at the same restaurant.

And no memento is more important to Hultquist than her memory of the moment she shared with the King in 1971.

“That was my goal in life, was to meet Elvis,” Hultquist said. “I said, ‘do you kiss strange girls?' He says, ‘do I kiss strange girls? Do you want me to show you how I do it?' And I said, ‘do what?' He said, ‘kiss.' I said whatever. And he did, and he French kissed me… He looked at me and I looked at him and he said, ‘how was that?' And I couldn't talk.”

Perhaps her passion teeters on obsession, and the world won't quite understand. But Jacque knows, beyond the notes, he truly was the king.

“They just think I'm nuts,” Hultquist said. “That man changed my life forever.”

“He was just a wonderful human being.”
