KHQ.com -

Tito is five years old and in kindergarten. He loves cars, trucks, trains, planes, and boats. Meal times are particularly entertaining because Tito likes to turn his food and utensils into vehicles. Apple slices become snowmobiles. Forks and spoons race around his place setting as if having a car race.

Make-A-Wish® Alaska and Washington came into Tito's life because he suffers from a tumor condition called neurofibromatosis type 1, or NF1.Tito's wish came true when he went on a five-day Western Caribbean cruise with the Dreamworks characters Shrek and Princess Fiona, Alex, King Julian, and many more. On the last day of the cruise, Tito led the crowd carrying the Make-A-Wish flag for the Walk-for-Wishes-At-Sea fundraising event. Then the captain led Tito to the bridge of the ship. There the captain let Tito steer the ship and sound its very loud horn.

It's been nearly two years and Tito still talks about his wish cruise and all the fun he had. In the words of Tito's mom: “Tito's wish returned fun and joy to our family. It taught us the important lesson of not letting our child's medical condition be the whole of our life together. It's OK to laugh and play in the midst of serious illness.”
