SPOKANE, Wash. - Judge Gregory Sypolt decided that a Spokane man will not serve any jail time after pleading guilty to manufacturing marijuana extract in his car, which caused an explosion and injured his three-year-old daughter.

The August 2013 explosion happened in the Garland District when police say 28-year-old Jacob Sayman was trying to use cans of butane with a THC extract device and lit a cigarette, which caused the explosion. Both Sayman and his daughter suffered serious injuries in the blast.

Sayman pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree assault and manufacturing a controlled substance and Judge Gregory Sypolt sentenced him to a year of community custody. Sayman will be required to continue mental health treatment, take a parenting class and pay around $4800 in restitution. Because Sayman was a first time offender with no prior felonies, prosecutors agreed to drop a third-degree child assault charge.

During sentencing on Wednesday, the mother of Sayman's daughter said her child has recovered physically from the explosion, but "mentally... it's never very far from her mind."

Sayman apologized to those he had hurt before sentencing, including his daughter.

KHQ.COM - Most mothers can only hope by the time their children grow up and move out of the house, they've learned all the necessary things to be a successful adult, including the basic knowledge that a turkey must be cooked in an oven, or perhaps in a smoker... NOT in a microwave. For this reason a new prank-challenge going around on Facebook is resulting in some hilarious text conversations between mothers and their grown children.
